Rainer Adelung promovierte 2000 in Physik an der CAU. Nach Postdoc in den USA und Habilitation in der Materialwissenschaft ist er seit 2007 Professor für Materialwissenschaft mit Fokus auf neuen Materialien in der Grundlagenforschung und Anwendung, z.B. ist so bereits ein Medizinprodukt im Markt.
